In 2015 I was awarded a BBC Performing Arts Fellowship to work with MAYK, a Bristol producing company, on their international performance festival – Mayfest as the Participation Producer. This was an opportunity to programme the events that ran alongside the festival – the breakfast talks and the Blind Tiger Cub (cabaret for little ‘uns).
Alongside this I teamed up organisations who work with young people and upcoming Social Media content creators to create ways of engaging with the festival that were meaningful to the 13- 24 age range. Integrate UK are a national charity, based in East Bristol (where I live) who work to empower young people towards participating in creating an equal society. After a performance of Rites, a National Theatre of Scotland production I set up the Mayfest Soapbox and invited the young people to take the stage.
